Default Police visit!

Had a very strange visit to my business last week. Police Community support officer drops in asking for the person driving the silver BMW. I wasn't there so my PA leaves me a note. I call them and they drop round on another day.

They said there was a complaint that my car frightened someone when I noisily overtook on a local road! Then when they stopped behind me at a junction they noted my car was on illegal racing tyres and felt obliged to inform the fuzz of my quote "illegally loud and tyred motor vehicle"!

Said Police officer, quite embarrassed, asks to see the car, declares it fine and apologises for the waste of time.

What kind of World do we now live in!!!

Anything like this happened to anyone else?

No but I have asked our local force to speak to the local yob who drives down our road in the early mornings and late at night with an extremely loud exhaust. It either needs replacing or baffles need to be replaced.

It has been going on for a while and last time I clocked it in the early morning it set off one of the neighbours car alarms. I am fed of it.

Anyway I just asked them to have a word. Let's face it, it is not all about charging people. Sometimes a quiet word will suffice (I hope).

My son drove past an American guy on his push bike, he looked over his shoulder and turned his bike into the road... My lad steered around him and the American puts a complaint in to the police saying he had been hit and he damaged his shoe falling off his bike...he wants a new shoe. We got a possible prosecution letter. We got in touch with the police, they inspected the car, not a mark on it and they said the guy was just trying it in but they now have to follow up all complaints, they won't be following up his complaint further, but what the fuck. If I had his details I would be knocking in his door.

I have to say that I was a tad annoyed when said Police Officer informed me that he had spoken to you and that he had found nothing untoward...

I asked him what exactly do I pay my taxes for!

By the way some people react you would already think it was.

Had someone jump out & stop me to tell me off for speeding. I asked how that could be when there was only a few inches between the wall & parked cars.

Ans: Beacause I could hear you making such a loud noise. Politely pointed out that speed and sound do not always go together.

Car also gets some funny looks accelerating from junctions in sleepy villages.

Totally with you on that Peter. Overtaking is a dying art. Even my wife looks at me sometimes when I overtake. I have to remind her that it is not illegal. Some flash and rant or gesticulate when you are on their side (making the overtake) and others flash you when you pass them. I always just give them a friendly wave.

I put the poor level of A/B road overtaking to the clueless 'overtaking' done on the motorway. Passing a 67mph car at 70mph is simply not acceptable in my book. If you want to pass someone stop worrying about petrol consumption or your lazy arsed cruise control and maka a positive move - 80/90mph and then pull back in and let a faster car pass or whey hey leave the outside lane empty - how queer.

Do not even get me started on the lorry drivers on the motorway especially two lane motorways ie M26.

Seeing that photo of Victor & carrying on from Pip don't get me on the so called safety campaigns that contribute to bad driving:

Drive like a girl. As long as I don't brake or accelerate its ok to txt, face book, turn to look at my passenger, etc try having this conversation with some teenagers, the mind boggles.
Speed kills. I can stay in the outside lane as I am doing 70. Visibility is bad in this fog but I must be safe as I am not breaking the speed limit.

I had better shut up now.
