in answer to your question as to how many on here have warranty's i'd guess at well over half.
For anyone over 60k miles like myself,I would suggest the named component cover, which I think is £1200 with Emergancy breakdown.it still covers you for most of the expensive bits, just not so much on brake bits and suspension, but still covers you for the amount you paid for the car.I have had my money's worth this year with a new Smg pump, which I think would have been around £2000 and new clutch and fly wheel last time at £1600.So I will be renewing for as many years as I can.Even if I don't make a claim my mind is at rest.

How did you manage to claim for a new clutch, is that not classed as normal wear?

No,it was slurring and when they took the clutch plate out I was told it would have been good for another 60k miles,so new plate and flywheel under warranty,it's now pulling like a train(well done Gareth)

the age of the car has no effect on its ability to have a warranty (you are mixing it up with the suposed end of goodwill for subframe repairs at 10 years)

Long live the BMW warranty. Most of the non-BMW warranties I looked into paid nothing after 10 years.
