Mine also sits under the bumper and i cant see the tops of the tips but it does it's job and chucks everything out the rear so it's no biggie.
I'd think it might be a struggle to get it out further as its goverend by the fixed Flange on the centre part of the system that the rear box bolts to so that dictates how far in or out it sits.
