CSLR members SG CSL FOR SALE
After six fantastic years of ownership and 24,000 incredible miles on some of Europe's finest roads, the time has come (after much deliberation) to find a new custodial for my beloved Cecil. This has not been an easy decision however due to a comical lack of use (1600 miles in the past three years, since the 10th Anniversary Munich Euro trip) and the ever decreasing availability of spare time, I feel the time has come to find a new home for DU53 VAY as it's a terrible waste of an incredibly talented Road/Track car, now sitting in my garage pretending to be a "Garage Queen" and no longer being used properly as 'M' division Gods intended.
I've owned it since 2009 and I've been a CSLR member since that time. DU53 VAY is a well know car on CSLR as the 3 previous owners to me were also CSLR members. During my 6 years of ownership it's always been my other car, the weekend toy and it has always been kept in a well ventilated, dry garage overnight, in bad weather and when not being used, especially during the long winter months, when it hibernates until the following spring. This kind of regime has paid off and preserved this car very well with all the rubber window seals, rubber hoses, electrical wiring, paint work, carbon roof, etc. not having been exposed to the outside elements, bad weather and contrasting temperatures. As a result it still retaining a soft & supple feel to it all, that of a much younger car. There are no signs of rust, neither on the body or the chassis. No fluid leaks from any of the main mechanical components and everything is bone dry. Ideally I'm looking for a like minded CSL enthusiast who will appreciate the exceptional condition & impeccable service history of my CSL, above everything else. Someone who will continue to cherish this wonderful car in the way it's been accustom to in the past 6 + years and enjoy driving it more than I'm currently able to, due to before mentioned time restraints. So, onto my CSL: 2003 BMW M3 CSL (UK car No.: 20 out of 422) - Build date: 15-07-2003, UK registered: 01-09-2003 - Full BMW Service History (Main dealer only) all correctly stamped in the SH book with accompanied invoices dating back to 2006 - 6 previous owners ( first 2 were speculative car dealers swapping ownership for profit in the very first 41 days between them) - Current odometer reading @ 92,450 miles - Fresh MOT valid until 21-08-2016 (no advisories) All previous MOT certificates enclosed in the history file. - All 3 original keys (2X remotes + 1X valet) - Original CSL Alcantara folder along with the owners manual, service history booklet, CSL supplement booklet, etc. - Original UK 422 Limited Edition specific I.D. placket in the car - HPI clear (certificate in the file) without any outstanding finance, insurance accident claims, etc., - Matching set of nearly new OEM Michelin Pilot Sport "CUP" tyres, all DOT 2012 with a minimum 4 mm of remaining tread - 155 MPH limiter de activated making this one of a few de-restricted CSLs. BMW @ 76825 miles - Inspection 1 service 12-07-12 @ Elms BMW @ 86659 miles - Oil service 21-07-14 @ Elms BMW @ 90418 miles I'm a strong believer in preventative maintenance and aim to fix anything that may need doing sooner rather then wait for it to brake, money no object. Sometimes I'll change parts for the sake of fitting New to replace slightly old, for peace of my own mind. In addition to the BMW scheduled servicing (which I've always done according to time, not mileage) I've had a number of Interim oil & filter changes, always using the recommended Castrol EDGE TWS Motor-sport SEA 10W-60 approved oil & genuine OEM oil filters. At 84,000 miles I asked our "CSL Guru" Gareth to perform a compression & a leak down test to check the inner health of my engine. The results came back all positive and within BMW guide lines. Paperwork for this as well as all the other none scheduled repairs is all enclosed in the extensive maintenance / service history A4 arch lever file. Suffice to say my CSL is mechanically fit and while this may not be necessary I will be happy for our "CSL Guru" Gareth to perform a full pre sale AUC inspection (at the buyers expense) should you feel the need. It's also worth noting that Gareth has carried out all the major servicing (and some minor maintenance) on my car since I purchased it back in 2009 so he knows DU-VAY very well, inside & out. It's one of the main reasons why it's in such superb condition. BMW (Mondial) Approved Warranty My CSL has had the extended BMW approved warranty for all but the last few years. I have 14 (A4) pages chronologically listing all the warranty work my car has ever had throughout out its existence. I've highlighted the big ticket items below. Please note: this very same warranty can be reactivated at any time ( at additional cost to the new owner ) should it be desired. In my 6 + years of ownership I've only had 3 claims listed below: - New fuel pump (and new fuel filter at my request) on: 27-11-2010 @ 81991 miles - New "M" differential + revised diff oil with booster on: 19-11-2010 @ 81944 miles - Replacement Alternator unit on: 22-01-2010 @ 69656 miles Prior to my ownership there were a few note worth warranty claims and these are as follow: - Intake Air temp. sensor on: 09-12-2008 @ 63685 miles - Complete full VANOS system replaced on: 25-06-2008 @ 59880 miles - Front suspension lower wishbones & bushes on: 25-06-2008 @ 59880 miles - Replacement driver seat on: 14-12-2007 @ 58237 miles - Complete clutch kit & duel mass flywheel replaced on: 04-10-2007 @ 58237 miles - Rear coil springs X2 replaced on: 25-06-2007 @ 53357 miles - Rear control arms X2 replaced on: 25-06-2007 @ 53357 miles - Front wheel bearings X2 replaced on: 30-08-2006 @ 38715 miles - Replacement Alcantara steering wheel on: 30-08-2006 @ 38715 miles - Lambda sensor replaced on: 30-08-2006 @ 38715 miles - Rear coil springs X2 replaced on: 25-08-2006 @ 38157 miles - Main battery replaced on: 14-08-2006 @ 38156 miles - Main battery replaced on: 22-09-2005 @ 32202 miles - Replacement Alternator unit on: 22-09-2005 @ 32202 miles - SMG Salmon Relay 22-07-2004 @ 16675 miles Most recent expenditures: At the beginning of March last year (after another winter of hibernation) I decided to treat my Cecil to a few bit & pieces. What started as a few simple jobs soon escalated into a mini restoration. £4000 later, I've ended up with an exceptional condition CSL, which belays its age and mileage in equal measures. Below is a list of the main highlights. - New BOSCH S3 (70Ah) battery with 3 Year Warranty - New OEM (ATE) front CSL brake discs X2 - New "Performance Friction" Z rated Carbon metallic front & rear brake pads + fresh ATE Blue Race brake fluid - Fresh BMW approved MTF LT2 gearbox oil + latest SMG update. - Fresh G48 antifreeze / coolant. - New GENUINE OEM rear shock absorbers X2 (SACHS) + new associated lower mounting bolts. - New Heavy Duty (MEYLE) rear shock top mounts X2 + New bump stops - New OEM antiroll bar drop links (Lemforder) , 2X rear + 1X driver front - Extensive front end paint work re-spray to eliminate stone chips and scabs, including the inside of the front wings, front bumper, whole bonnet & lower side sills. - Original MK1 front carbon flippers refurbished by CSLR's "Mark CSL" . - New GENUINE BMW front kidney grills X2 along with brand new headlight lenses X2 - New GENUINE BMW CSL specific Alcantara hand brake lever - Refurbished GENUINE BMW rear centre console - Numerous GENUINE BMW chassis under trays, brackets, nuts, bolts, clips, etc. INTERIOR: As to be expected from a vehicle that's used sparingly (purely for pleasure and fun) it is in excellent over all condition, it has not been smoked in (it doesn't even have a cigaret lighter) and it's free from unpleasant odours. The rare and collectable UK CSL Limited production placket is included and firmly attached to the Carbon Fibre centre console. The Alcantara has no rips, tears, marks or otherwise including the drive seat. The steering wheel & the driver seat were both changed under warranty few years ago, approximately 50K miles ago and have always been kept clean using "RACE-GLAZE" Alcantara cleaner. The rear centre console was recently replaced with a Genuine BMW spare one I've had professionally restored. The headlining is perfect without any rips or stains. Drive side CSL specific trim plate has been replaced with a GENUINE BMW item a couple of years ago, while the passenger side is the original one with a few age related marks. There are a number of other new items of trim, clips, etc that have been fitted over the years. The carpets are immaculate as they have always had GENUINE BMW floor matts over them . Everything is regularly cleaned & hoovered. All the electrical item work 100% and there are no known faults to report. As previously mentioned the passenger air bag has already been replaced under BMW re-call. All original BMW toll kit, including the locking wheel nut key, emergency folding triangle, tyre inflator kit and a replacement First Aid kit are all there, present & correct. In summery, it's a very tidy interior however it is not new and has a few tiny age / use related marks here & there as to be expected, none of which are detrimental to the overall great condition. EXTERIOR & CHASSIS: As previously mentioned, my CSL has always been garaged and doesn't get exposed to winter weather, the overall condition of all body panels, as well the chassis along with all the rubber seals, is exceptional. I've Clay bared the paint work a few times, it's always kept clean using AUTOGLYM products and I keep a fleece lined indoor dust cover over it. That said, it isn't a Museum piece and will have a few signs of use as to be expected of any used car. There are no trolly dings in any of the outer panels and no signs of corrosion or rust. The whole front end of the car along with lower side sills has recently been fully repainted to eliminate stone chips I've collected over the past 6 years. This wasn't just a cheap blow over but a pain staking process which involved having the front bumper and wings removed to get them pained properly inside, along all the edges and outside. In addition to that, I have also replaced all the front facing items such as headlight covers & the front bonnet kidney grills. The original 2003 MK1 front bumper carbon flipper have also been refurbished back to "As New" condition. The carbon roof panel is in excellent condition and isn't suffering from any lacquer peel. Back in 2010 I had a brand New rear bumper fitted by Murketts BMW. The rear sub frame chassis has been completely replaced under BMW Warranty and subsequently filled with structural foam by Elms BMW Stansted back in 2012 to a high standard which was further refined by our Gareth at Elms BMW Cambridge. In addition to that I have replaced majority of brackets, clips, nuts & bolts associated with the new boot floor and the rest of the chassis. The CSL "CUP" alloy wheels have been refurbished over the past few years (once in my ownership) and remain very presentable to this day. This CSL is now SOLD Please note, this is not a forced or desperate sale and the car is priced according to its superb condition & excellent service history, which are the two most important factors when looking for a good car like the mighty CSL. If you're looking for a cheap & rugged CSL or judge your cars pedigree purely based on low mileage then my CSL is most likely not for you. If however you are looking for an exceptional example of BMW's "M" division greatest hit, that has been cherished and maintained by people who can afford the correct upkeep without cutting corners, then please get in touch by either posting a message in this thread or p.m. me directly. Thank you for taking your time to read this far. Last edited by mattCSLnut; 28-06-2016 at 11:05 PM. |
