I am not sure I get it Mike.
A colleague from work skidded on ice a few years back and hit a tree.
He had to pay ~8k CHF for not being in control of his car and going with very high speed (he was doing 50 on a 80 limit, but there was a 10m patch of ice).

A few months back there was a multiple crash in the highway, again due to ice.
All drivers got fines for not being able to control their cars.
A police car also crashed at the scene.

My point is, one thing that is very serious here is driving.
You do something you are not supposed to do with a car, the consequences are severe (foreigners are no exception by the way).
