One of the main reasons i let my cover lapse was due to my car having been modified: AP brakes, Miltek system, Stage 1,etc. I'm sure BMW would try and wriggle out of a claim if they could link it in the slightest possible way to a modification...
 I would rather prefer to have the cover though - especially after the alternator incident of last weekend!  Good news for standard cars though
