Default Correct Flap Operation??!

Suffering problems with the dreaded inlet flap - at first i thought it was stuck shut, so had a look about and read that one way of testing it was to get someone to rev the car to around 3500rpm whilst looking at the flap.

In this scenario it appears to operate fine.

However! When out on the road the car is still noticably quieter than it should be, so i decided to conduct a couple of tests; Whilst driving the car hard at around 4-5000rpm, i noted that theres no change in sound whilst turning the sport button on and off. Second test i did was to leave the sport button off, and allow the car to rev out to 7000rpm. When ive done this before at around 6000rpm there is a noticable change in sound as the flap opens - again, this time no change in sound!

Any ideas to what the problem could be?? Seems the flap isnt opening when it should be, though clearly the motors fine, unless the inlet pressure is too great for it to open against because its faulty?!
