First raceweekend in the GT championship
Hi guys!
Thought I'd share a some of my experiences from last weekend. It was the first race weekend in the Norwegian GT championship. I'm participating with this car as some of you might know by now. This was a pretty new track for me, only driven it one weekend two years ago so took a little time to get to know the limits and braking points. I qualified fifth is class with this lap: Race one went pretty good but I was missing about a second a lap to compete with the front runners. Ended up in fifth place after a somewhat uneventful race. Second race was a different story though. While everybode was lined up in the pitlane it started raining just a minute before the start, meaning there was no time to change for wets. We went out and I had a blast. Ended up with a somewhat sensational second place. Beating a DTM car, all the corvettes and porsches. Only beaten by former GT champion in a Ferrari 458 challenge by just over a second. Under is a video from the race. I've never ended up higher then third in the GT championship so I was extremely happy and satisfied. Third race was on dry surface again. I managed to gain some pace over the weekend and was able to stick with the faster cars I couldn't keep up with in race one. However the servo stopped working after 8 laps, meaning I had to wrestle the car home. Managed to keep sixth place to the end though, so I was pretty happy with that. All in all I had a great time this weekend, going home with a silver throphy and great memories. Next race in the GT series is in three weeks on my home track. I can hardly wait. |
