One of the main reasons i let my cover lapse was due to my car having been modified: AP brakes, Miltek system, Stage 1,etc. I'm sure BMW would try and wriggle out of a claim if they could link it in the slightest possible way to a modification...

I would rather prefer to have the cover though - especially after the alternator incident of last weekend!

Good news for standard cars though

Thing is, you don't get something for nothing. I reckon they are more stringent with what they cover now.

I clicked on this ad at the top of the forum, seems alright too...

I know a dealer that use's warrantywise for all his cars, and he says they are excellent and has never had a problem.

I got a quote from them as well, and I think it was around £700, but there was no breakdown cover, I can't remember what XS there was, and I think there was something around the hourly rate, ie it was about £50ph, and not the Stealers £100ph!!!

Thought it would cost more if you are a new customer, but if you then keep the wrrenty up the following year it should be cheaper then?

Hello all, new CSL owner here

I'll do a proper first post with pics of the car as soon as I can get some decent daylight pics but in the meantime this thread sparked my interest!

I bought my car from an independant dealer and i've got a RMI warranty but i'm tempted to shell out for a genuine BMW warranty now that they offer this for cars with elapsed factory warranties.

The only problem is my car has a brake and exhaust upgrade....... will BMW just turn me down flat as the car's not standard or will they offer me a warranty with some limitations???

Has anyone got a factory warranty on a modified car and made any claims? WHat was the outcome?

Cheers, Jon.
