Sadly the way the costs start stacking up, the organised TD at the Ring starts to look favourable, given that a week-end based on TF will probably set you back the thick end of £600 ~ £700, with the possibility of only getting a few laps in, and probably crowded ones at that with the greater risk of collision.

Agreed I'm now swaying 60-40 in favour of closed Ring TDs

TF days, on weekend are full of people.
If you can go on week days at least 3 o 4 hours, I guarantee you can do lots of laps.
Besides the risk of having an accident on weekday is lower

Sadly the incompetent management do not put on many week day TFs anymore...

They make far more money on packed tf weekends so incompetent to us it may seem, but for profit they are pretty competent.

I'm booking the cd trip in august

See how that one pans out.

I did the CD trackday last August and it was pretty good.

Someone did manage to stack-it on the sighting laps in the first 30 mins, but other than that i think there were only 2 reds.

The track is open all day, i did 21 laps and could probably have done another 21 if i had really wanted to.

There was allsorts of cars on the day and inevitably there was a big variation in speed, but it still felt miles safer than TF and there were no bikes.

I planning to go again this year.

No.

But the thing is this Shane, the Ring diehards like T$ and I used to like to go out there midweek and get some quality track time in on the midweek days before staying out there for a weekend and seeing what you could get from that.

End result? Lots of regular punters who stay for more than just 2 days many times per year and who also don't mind too much if the track isn't too great over the weekend because they've had good track time already in the week. Punter and local hotels/businesses happy!

Current situation: No midweek days and everyone is crammed into shitty weekends which are invariably rammed solid and shut a lot of the time. Punter has a greater risk of not getting any good track time & is not happy - local businesses lose out on money. End result (in my personal case) Punter reluctat to return as much as they used to...

Make sense?

2004/05/06 probably the best years (and before I started going) it's got worse and worse each year and each trip.

Im now at the can't be arses stage when I get there which defeats the object to a degree, I love the trip out and eve's with friends and the banter so will always return no question but mt 3 ish trips per year will fall as a result and now only do 1/2 private days or weekends per year.

I miss the old days it's such a shame have some fantastic memories of the many trips I did on the TF, just a little more control on trying to prevent Billy Numpty pants getting on track (hard I know) but some registration prior , bike and car days seperate etc, would make a huge difference.

Sadly can't see that happening.
