Just started about 15 mins ago as you accelerate really tinny rattling noise ?

And feels lumpy as speed increases ??

Could be exhaust but doesn't sound blowy ?

Def noise from engine quite loud !!

Sitting ib dealers now .. Supposed to be heading into london for beers

Any ideas ??

Vanos likely I think

Does it increase with rpm/is is independent of what gear you are in?

Could be drive shaft, gearbox, crisp packet caught in your spokes ( sorry wrong forum)

Yep could be

Just read Daz post again and if the power I'd affected or the engine feel then HG big possibility. Mine got worse pn one journey to the point that under load felt like it was misfiring

Rattling in all gears when pedal is down and speed is constant ?
Was no EML light when I went in .. Booked for inspection 17th earliest with loan car, and now heading into London for this canary wharf beer meet ..
But EML now just on :-( and running like a tractor at certain speeds.

Spoke to BMW emergency services they advised as Amber light OK to drive but get it booked in which I've already done, if it goes then it's Rory the recovery man ..

Hmmm HG ? Would that give me the tinny rattle like a lose bit of metal ?

Doesn't misfire on initial acceleration ony on load , but rattles low down on and off and more as speed is constant on slight acceleration

Are you sure you haven't dropped some of your hair wax in the engine bay onto the belts!

If you're going to be running about in it for the next couple of weeks before it can be checked out, watch the fuel consumption. If it's the VANOS, it goes through the roof. Or it did with mine anyway. Mine went at about 30K miles, Warranty sorted it out though, without question.

17 days is Mental time to wait for a diagnosis!! Oh, enjoy the beer!
