For Sales or Servicing?

I've not dealt with them directly but from what I've heard (and seen), their cars are always over priced.

I phoned them about the very low milage SG CSL that they STILL have in stock and initially spoke with a guy who gave me a really bad first impression - he was a real wide boy and although it doesnt really bother me he used really slang expressions and lots of street talk and it simply put me off the idea of spending £35k with them. The next guy i spoke with sounded a lot more professional to be fair so that kind of made up for things. However, its their pricing policy that ultimately put me off. The car was listed at around £35k. They told me it had initially been on at around or over £40k but had just been reduced. I made them a silly offer of around £28k just to be cheeky. They obviously refused it but then hounded me for over a week, calling every day, trying to get me to buy. They finally came down to £31k - which is an awsome reduction in price and on the face of it a great deal for a low milage dealer car with warranty etc. But i had by then already sourced a car with 16k, warranty and equally mint privately. That said, another guy from here was looking at the same car and they wouldnt budge below 33k or something for him?? I assume the company is fine, i just think you need to be clear how much youre happy to pay for a car and stick to your guns.

Was that the one with 8900 miles on or 19k?

Hmmm interesting comments.
I rang them this morning enquiring about the same 8900 mile car.
Initially I spoke to a very polite and helpful Indian/Asian salesman.
He took my details and I then let it be known I had a CSL to part exchange.
He said he'd ring me back with a valuation on my car just to save me wasting my time (and a 200 mile round trip)
Within half an hour I duly received a call from a gentleman (but not the same salesman I'd spoken to previously)

This individual initially was polite, but then became insistent that I give him a figure as to what I thought my car was worth.

Whilst I clearly had a figure in my head I was not prepared to make it known to this individual. I was thus insistent that he tell me what he valued my car at.

Clearly unhappy with what he saw as my "hardball tactics" he said my car couldn't be valued using the "normal" methods/guides and thus he saw it at £15K . . . . . .

I decided to humour him and replied that was clearly somewhat short of what I had in mind !

Now getting audibly annoyed the said individual attempts to bully me into telling him what I valued my car at.

In reply to his outrageous bid I thus countered with a figure of £30K !

Clearly he thought I was taking the p*ss and got even more stroppy !

Our exchange ended with me saying that in all my years of buying cars I'd never had such a conversation previously, and that to deal with a potential customer in such a way whilst staring at the teeth of a recession beggared belief.

He seemed unpeturbed and gave me the silent treatment !! I thus joined in and waited for him to respond first.
He duly did respond and said there was clearly no way we would be doing a deal and thus we had nothing further to discuss.
With that we both hung up. . . . .

In disgust I rang the original saleman back and made it clear I was most displeased with the manner in which I'd been dealt with by his colleague and that I had no wish to speak to said individual again.

He apologised profusely saying that the gentleman who'd rung me was the sales manager of some twenty years who liked to stick his nose in everywhere ! ! He went on to say he'd have words with his chairman and ring me back.

He asked (after admitting that both the Silver Grey cars they were selling were very overpriced !!) what sort of figure I was looking at to change from my car to either of theirs.

Having told him he replied he thought he's struggle to get close (on the basis that there's a highish mileage car on the BMW Approved car list at £26-27K).
He did however say he's ring me back. that was at 11 am this morning.

Some ten minutes later the sales manager rang me back (clearly unaware of my conversation with his salesman requesting I'd not want to speak to the manager again) He now offers me £20K for my car.
To which I replied he needed to communicate with his salesmen more effectively because I'd already expressed my wish to not have to communicate with him personally again !! with that he hung up . . . .

So far no phonecall back from the original salesman. . . .

Interesting conversation you've had there.......I with most of the comments above, always seem really over priced when I've look at the cars there. At one stage they purchased a load of Z3 Mcoupes and because they where the only main dealer that had them tried to charge well over the odds.

Sounds like your having fun and games with this garage.

I was in the showroom on Saturday looking at that low mileage CSL. Is a bit overpriced. Have you managed to get them to drop the price since they have admitted that the prices are too high?
