***technosport - the only place in london to get your csl serviced / tuned***
Speaking to a few guys - Rich / Tino / Johhny
seems some guys have had ok to bad experience of getting their cars looked after... Give George @ Technosport a call - trust me - you won't be dissapointed... His place may not look like much (small garage underneath some arches) but the guy really knows what he is doing.. He has looked after my car for past year, and my friend Bachi's M3 convertible (was leading the convoy down to goodwood - think some of you guys met him)... I can honestly say, every time I collect my car from him it feels better than it did when it was brand new... George also has severeal friends / contacts who work in the motorsport industry - His mate who tuned my car was involved in the engine development of the Mclaren F1 - and was also a senior developer at M division - so he knows his stuff!!! He's also developed his own M3 racing car which is something to be seen!!! If your car is in need of a service - or you are interested in getting it fettled - give him a call... and mention mine or Bachi's name http://www.technosport.co.uk/ 0208 450 0309

Thanks mate, these guys are 10 mins from me so could prove to be really useful. Do they know all the CSL issues/idiosynchrosies? My car is at Murketts at the moment getting some warranty work done but do need to get fluid, hoses & pads done before Ring/Spa so may give these guys a chance.

What is the current situation with the BMW Warranty? Does it have to be serviced by a dealer, or can and Independent do it?

When I spoke to them last month and told them it doesn't have full BMW history, she said it doesn't matter as long as you can show that it has been serviced with genuine BMW parts and the garage can confirm this in writing it will be fine. So I got my garage to do exactly that I believe this must be a new approach as reading the 100's of posts on here they all seem to say it has to have a Full BMW History. I would say give them a call and let us know what they say.

Just spoke to them and asked for an email confirmation;
"Dear Mr J Bray Following our recent conversation I would like to inform you that all service and warranty work must be carried out by an Authorised BMW Dealer or BMW Authorised Service workshop using BMW genuine parts only. Your BMW service booklet must be stamped, dated and detailed with the correct mileage at the time of service by the servicing dealer. Failure to do this will result in your warranty being invalidated. If you have any further problems or queries please do not hesitate to contact me. Many Thanks BMW Insured Warranty Services Tel: 0871 200 0199 Fax: 0208 603 0222" (Name removed) What would constitute a BMW Authorised Service Workshop? |

Well now I'm confused, the lady I spoke to wasn't so strict and took my money for the warranty!! I'll be getting that back shortly.
I had a quick look for 'BMW Authorised Service Workshop' and their only description was that they were manned by BMW Qualified Techinicians using BMW Genuine parts. Clear as Mud, they should clear this up once and for all as she definitely told me to get written confirmation on headed paper from the serving garage... Now surely you just wouldn't make that up to achieve a sale..... knowing full well it's not true.

I get the impression there's confusion at their end. What she asked you to do sounds very specific, which would suggest that they are accepting independents? |

Ive always thought if you have BMW extended warranty you have to use BMW for your servicing,which it states in the warranty handbook.But if you have a new BMW,for the first 3 years of manufacturers warranty you can use an independent as long as they use BMW parts,this law was made 3 or 4 years ago.When i asked to renew my lapsed extended warranty,all the servicing work must have been carried out by bmw.So,if the person who had my car from new used an inde in the first 3 years,it would'nt have all BMW stamps now.So how does this work.Confused,i am.

Good ole block exemption.
On your manufacturers warranty you can use any garage with genuine BMW parts, lubricants etc and your warranty will be maintained. However this only covers the first 2 years of your three year warranty. The third year of your BMW warranty is actually provided by BMW GB ltd and is a seperate contract where they stipulate a BMW dealer must be used for servicing. This is being challenged by various people so is still in a state of flux. If you have purchased BMW's extended warranty then this is just an insurance policy which has the same contract term in place. |
