Castle Combe on 19/03/2010
Had such a good time today at Castle Combe! I love this car
Was with Mike Wilds in the morning when it was dry, and then had alot of fun in the very very wet afternoon. I managed to burn through 2 tanks of petrol, and the standing water slides were scary Overall quite good, what do you guys run at CC? I will laptime myself next time if its dry. Was doing the whole track in 3rd 4th and 5th pretty much. Mike was very helpful, much reccommended, but when it became wet I had to use completely different lines to find the dry spots Oh btw I wanted to ask, when I check the oil level and theres no readout it looks like this: Oil Level: -.- What does that mean? I went back to 1.1L afterwards. Here's some pics: |

The pictures dont do it justice. It rained much much harder afterwards!!! It was like driving on a lake
Terry runs on the 16th April, I will be attending that aswell. |

Looks like you had fun!
I've been to Castle Combe a couple of times and find it is quite fast. It is also flat & rather bland too - my least favourite track so far

I think it is a fun circuit actually, but you aren't alone. When i was there with Britcar last season there were quite a few people moaning about it.
I didn't last long, thanks to a CSL crashing into me, but it was fun while it lasted. Your car looks great in the photos by the way!

Qualy was 1.16 for me in the dry, and 1.30 in the wet, very very wet, monsoon. (which was on full wets though)

I know what Rob's getting at. A lot of the track is quite straight forward and bland. Sort of agree but I do like the challenge of Avon Rise leading to Quarry. Don't think I've ever really got it just right but on the limit it always quickens the pulse! I like Camp corner also. There's something about drifting the car out of there with the pit wall looming that does it for me as well.

Cool pics mate, car looks great on track
Good times around Combe is anything around 1m 20s for a road car really, I know the Radicals lap at around 1:08 or something crazy and Nick Williamson (Owen Developments tuned Escort Cosworth) runs a 1:10 around there which is seriously quick for what his car is! As for it being boring I can't say I agree, it's short lap but can be quite technical to get right, I love Castle Combe and visit regularly EDIT: Dont worry about your Oil Level Indicator, it's because you were on track and it couldn't get a consistent reading, mine went when I was doing short journey's and shit me right up!

My CSL managed 1.18 on cups round there. My RS gets into the 15s and my E36 on slicks will be low 14s.
Nick Williamson's Escort has more than 500bhp and slicks so should be quick. My little E36 beat him at Donington in the wet! Nigel Mustill's Omega is more impressive. With Phil Bennett at the wheel it was doing 1.06s...
