Random one: Anyone imported an RV?

As title really - I was looking at camper vans to tow the race car and found myself wasting hours of my time daydreaming on ebay looking camper vans / RVs. £30K to £40K doesn't get much nowadays, even the van based campers are strong money. For similar money you can get some rather nice RV's in America, which are fairly big, come with slide-out sides to make them bigger when you reach your destination, and are specced up with all the toys, and a lot of them are diesel now.
So, has anyone imported one of these or know anyone who has or anyone out there an expert in the import business.
- how much import tax will it cost?
- is it based on purchase price or value when new?
- estimated shipping costs from the USA?
- any other scary stuff I need to know?

Just thought I would ask in case one of you had done this?
