For what the E92 M3 was intended as, it does it very well to be honest. It was never meant to be a CSL replacement - never was and never will be.

I've not had an issue with the seatbelt receiver thing ever - works brilliantly everytime. In fact when I get in the CSL now, I am always forgetting that there's no such thing and I keep waiting for something to pass the seatbelt to me

The variable steering ratio does take a little bit getting used to (do bear in mind it has a wider range than the fixed steering ratio in the CSL - in fact at its fastest setting it is about 20% quicker than the CSL steering) - but I do find it nicely weighted when it goes heavy at high speed. The car communicates in a different manner to the CSL, and trust me the grip level is amazing in this thing once set up correctly (mine had terrible geo new from the factory, it was unbelievable).

I actually felt the built quality was quite a step up in the E92 M3, perhaps yours has been lent out one too many times.

I do agree that the warm up lamp looks kinda of cheapish compared to the LED styled warm up lamp - however, I do believe it adds a 'mechanical' feel to the gauge and interior to something that is already an interior packed with electronic wizardry.

Suspension wise, having owned 2 E46 M3s, I'd pitch it somewhere between the CSL and the E46 M3 to be honest. It's actually not that soft and rather jarring at times (take it on a really rough road and you'll notice how well the whole chassis reacts and how composed the car is compared to the old M3).

I do agree the jewel of this car is the engine itself - now imagine this engine in the CSL chassis ... that'd be something quite fun I gather.

If I was only given the choice of owning one car as something that I can use as a track car and daily drive, I'd pick the E92 M3 hands down to be honest.

Will report back on how the E92 M3 is on the track after my driver training next Wednesday ....

things i hate?
the seat belt thing that passes you the belt, it misses every time
the shit version of warm up lights
the dashboard made with old man Rover style vinyl
the suspension - how come something soo soft can hit every bump in the road and send it straight up you spine
no torch J
its only done 28k but feels old and sloppy
the a/c knob should be the stereo knob
its now full of sand (whoops)

things I like?
It has grunt
Bonnet bulge
Door mirrors
I drive radio display
That fact I didn’t pay 50 odd grand for it
I'd agree with a lot of that.

It makes me laugh, there is a thread on Z3M coupe saying how a CSL is no better and now a thread on here saying how shit the e92 m3 compared to the CSL!

http://www.z3mcoupe.com/forum/showthread.php?t=8565

Get real guys, this is not a fair comparison.

Where the E92 Wins

Its newer, more refined, comfy, quick

The CSL is crap at daily driving and being practical - fact.

The CSL is totally obnoxious for daily use - fact.

Straight line speed, the e92 is quicker

Takes the road better than the CSL (with EDC).

Its a V8

However, it lacks the soul the CSL has, the sound, the handling (although the E92 does handle well), the CSL feels old in comparison.

Ultimately youre not comparing apples with apples here guys!

Absolute Bollocks

Used Every single day rain / sun / snow and on KW's with Supersprint race exhaust.

Cant see what the problem is, if you want to sit in comfort, sit on your sofa at home and watch TV

There not the same cars at all agreed.. love the new one for it is would not have it over the CSL ever or a GT3... as well as ohh yes

I have been using mine this week for work why I have been swapping the cylinder head on my Cooper S.

It's just an awesome car and it lashed it down today but love driving it

Would use it everyday but don't want to put tooooo many miles on it, 26K miles are getting nearer!!

I have no idea what you do for a living but turning up at work in a suit and driving to customers in a milltek'd CSL that fails the sound test at Bedford certainly isn't tame.

The e92 m3 is performance without shouting 'look at me'.
