Fatigue of the alloy used.

Note that it is running Hoosiers, however, which can generate more load than Cups. But I am personally not convinced by carbon wheels especially if used on road/track/kerbs where there are bumps... carbon doesn't bend, it shatters. If I wanted ultra lightweight wheels, I'd rather get magnesium wheels which are very close in weight, but retain the impact deformation benefits of alloy. The problem with mag wheels is that you need to xray them occasionally if used on the road to check for cracks. ie, it's a PITA.

Another issue is that unlike alloy, carbon wheels don't retain heat and you will struggle to maintain tyre pressure between sessions.

From my experience with my bike, I have only positive things to say about the carbon wheels that I have.
http://www.cslregister.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1622

I have BST wheels (in motorbikes, Dymag are way behind BST in quality // even a look on the one and the other is convincing).
BST is the only wheel that can race Isle of Man when it's used/2nd-hand and not brand new. Any other wheel (whatever type or make) needs to be brand new.
There is absolutely no danger when driving in the road, anyhow they have TUV certifications plus they are certified similarly to aircraft components.

Dymag was never famous for the top quality products.
BST on the other hand is the cream of the crop.
I would hesitate to buy Dymag wheels for my CSL.
If BST would make car wheels, it would be a no brainer for me, as it was with my bike.

Im with Ade on that one Glendog, carbon fails in a drastic way by shatter/splintering and doesnt give you a chance, at least metal alloys usually deform and 'give'. Any structural engineer worth his salt will show you where the 'trendy' carbon has been used in the wrong places.
