It is almost impossible to remove that screw without stripping the hex key slot. If you do, look here for replacement - see bottom of thread.

Also The trim has a slight lip that slots into the seat frame. I find the best way to take that trim off is to lift it into the seats first then twist the top part slightly to get it off the seat back portion where it sits just over the mechanism but not all the way, then pull down on the bottom to get the trim out of the bottom shell.

It's very hard to describe but there is one particular angle that the trim will come out without scratching the seat coating.

Just have a fiddle with it and have some thin hard cardboard around to slot in between the seat back. To prevent damage. Hope that helps!

The driver's side one came out no bother, but the passenger side someone had already tried to remove (unsuccessfully) and it was already stripped and had to be persuaded out with a drill .



The panels came off no bother (once I had figured out the piece of felt that was glued to the seat and the panel wasn't another hidden screw - you forgot to mention that ) and I fitted one back to make sure it was easy (more difficult than removing but no issues other than being careful not to mark the seat).

A question to someone who has replaced the center console one with the carbon ones.... when you remove the Alantara padding pieces, how do you pull the plastic pins out that hold the alcantara bits to the console? Brute force or is there a simpler way? Can the pins be replaced afterwards, or are they sort of built into the alcantara pieces?

They are built into the alcantara and can just be PUSHED out from underneath (rather than pull out from the top) and pushed back in. I did this to mine and they went back in no problem and did not break or suffer any issues .

If you pulled them off (oh er ), you might distort the cushions as I don't know how rigid they are, hence the advice to push them out from underneath .

Cheers Mike,

Yep, pushing them through from below makes sense. They seem so bloody fixed in there thought that I thought this alone may break something.

Out of curiosity, would you say your carbon console is strong enough to be sat on - not that there is a middle belt, but I was thinking that often if a person gets in the back, they tend to first lean in and put their weight on the console. Would the carbon stand up to this?

In the same way that the standard ones have not been designed to be sat on, neither have the carbon ones. However, they have been beefed up to take several times the weight of the standard one, and I "think" they would take the weight of a child / small person standing on them. Saying that, I would not really want to test one to destruction just to see.

But, if this was really important to you, for an extra £50 it could be beefed up so that it could take the weight of an adult no problem - if you felt that was a necessary requirement. Personally I would just advise people getting into the back to be a bit more careful .

Hi Gav,
Just waiting for my carbon guy's mold guy to finish them - sadly he is swamped as well, so is taking a lot longer than I anticipated.

However, the strut brace mold is done, so one of these will be produced soon (with a CSL logo embossed in it ).

Have chased for an update and will post back as soon as I get this .

Update - moulds finished for both the strut brace and the seat side covers, so should have an example of both on my car within the next month or so .
