They fabricate their own plates and weld them on. To be honest, it's just 4 plates cut to size and welded in 4 different areas.

Acceptance and agreement are two different things.

To keep it short, all options were looked at re warranties and preventative works with someone much more knowledgable than me on cars. He also happens to be highly respected and recommended on here.

I decided to jump the way I've jumped. It wasn't a flippant decision, just the right one in MY eyes. I don't expect everyone to agree, it's just my personal choice.
Fair enough. You pays your money, you takes your choice.

Heyup Pops,

I took the car into Stratstone Derby today for airbag and belts (before a few parade laps at Donners on Monday), even though Sytner Nottimgham is miles closer due to experience there...another story...

Anyway, they were great, real enthusiasts. Danielle was the service desk contact in the pic who was really helpful and made sure the right techs were involved, and Brett (who has an e38 728i) spent maybe 30 mins discussing CSL's afterwards and gawping at the airbox etc. They said most '03 e46's they see are snotters, and Danielle couldn't believe the CSL was an '03, which is always nice to hear !

He seen one recently before - yours - and mentioned you and the carshows in Annerslely organised by parent company Pendragon. Sadly I can't make that.

So good experience there, it's very nice to deal enthusiasts at a main dealers

Precisely.

You never actually own a CSL. You're merely guardians for the next generation of owners.....a bit like a nice Patek

Agree it's good to know there are one or two enthusiasts at the local dealer.

I can rarely make the Pendragon meets with being away so much, made the June one and will make the Sept one, chatting to Brett and he was telling me they made sure Cesil was done by the right guy when it went in for the airbag recall.

Well, Cesil is in Barts having bits done at the hands of Gareth.

Collect on Sat and have to tolerate 1200 miles at a max of 4500 rpm, will be a long 1200 miles!

A few new faces down there, good to see them doing well.

Brian

It's actually 5500 RPM and having done 1200 miles with the said restriction off track I've found it OK. Only hit the 5K RPM a couple of times so the running in period will be quite tolerable.

Stick to the twisty Derbyshire countryside.
