Default Advice please...

Selling a house in the new year and plan to use some of the equity to buy another fun car which I have not had the pleasure of owning to date.

My budget will be around £25-30k and I have narrowed my choice down to the following:

1. Porsche 997 Carrera S
2. BMW E60 M5 ('07 on facelift model)
3. BMW E90 M3 ('08 on facelift model)

Any thoughts or wild card ideas appreciated!

My mate tried a Carrera S and found it very slow, I would go for the M5/M3

Personally I would stick with either the Porsche if you have never given them a go. My first foray was a GT3 which I love to bits. Or the V8 M3. There is something hypnotic about a V8 rumble. Much as I would love to try an e60 M5, when they go wrong they are very expensive and the tank is too small for a long run - that has to be annoying.

find a nice aircooled Porsche .. might not be quick by modern standards but great fun to drive if you get the right one .... + added bonus of hopefully 0 depreciation unlike the cars you posted above

If it has to be one of the above, then the Porsche. M5 , quick & glorious noise but still a big & heavy saloon car that can't go more than 250 mile sbetween fill ups

M3 .. you've already got a CSL

Wild card would be an E30 M3 or a 968 CS

Stretch it a bit go for stage 4 GTR worth having for a year of fun (ask Shane or Gregor) if buy it with new brakes and tyres reduces cost of ownership. Price held the same for the last year or so so very little depreciation. Does 25-30 mpg 0-60 3sec 0-100 6.5 secs and has a good sound system.
