Default Fuel surge

Experienced this through fast right hand bends when tank reached half,I popped to petrol station and filled up,my sport Evo used to do this...I would have thought bmw would have sorted this by now....

Anyone else experienced this? Not too bothered as wont be on track too much... I think

Yep typically below 1/4 tank, long right handers like Coppice at Donny, Stavelot at Spa, Old Sears at Snetterton.

Can fix it with dual pick ups or twin pumps apparently.

Thanks shimmy,I thought half tank was a bit bad?? Both corners were not flowing quite aggressive turn in for both,if its not a fix with original parts its just going to have to stay like that, pity as I didn't expect that to happen in the greatest m3 ever lol

I experienced this the other month on the National circuit at Silverstone (after Woodcotes - the fast sweeper before the pit straight). Like Shimmy it was only ever when it dropped below a quarter of a tank.

Obviously having read about it on here, I instantly new what it was, so just now make sure it doesn't drop below that level.

I used to get this with my Focus RS until I ran a swirl pot and it'd be ok even when the fuel light came on....

Sorry to resurrect this old thread.

I was on a trackday today and I had a fuel surge on my few last laps. The fuel was 1/4 or below and it was a uphill fast right hander. As I read from this thread, it is quite normal.

My question is this, I couldn't get fuel for a long time after leaving the track and the ranged showed as low as 3miles. When I started up after a brief dinner, the started back with a little shake and trembling like fuel starvation again. It went away after a quick blip.

You guys think this is connected to very low fuel ? It happened once again after I put 1/4 of fuel which got me worried. Then I filled it up and it didn't happen again. Although the car didn't cool down before the last start.

I will check tomorrow morning to see if it happens again on a cold start.

Any suggestions ? Normal ?
