Warranty Questions

Looking at taking out the fully comp 0 excess warranty on my CSL. From talking to other members i had the impression that it would be £80 approx per month, but having got a quote from BMW, because the car hasnt had a warranty since last year, this "break" in warranty puts it up to 124 a month. I asked if having an inspection would mitigate the extra risk, but apparently not.

Anyone else had this issue and is there any way round it?

Also are they likely to be bothered if I run pagid pads and Braided lines??

I went for the 100 excess, thinking any claim would be alot more (esp if I waited until a few items needed doing), brought mine down to low £100's per month (<60K miles)

The break in the Warranty has the same effect of voiding the no claims as with a normal insurance policy, it's effectively a new policy.
A £100 voluntary excess should bring it down, leave the warranty to take care of the larger items, after all what would actually cost a £100 on a CSL to replace; Headlight, Set of Wipers?

Pads are a consumable and as such should be a matter of personal preference, so long as they work I can't see that being an issue. Similarly braided lines as most current upper end motors now come with them fitted as standard OEM.

Coil-overs (other post) however are a different mater, if it's a Modial Warranty, I would say it's a definite no-no!

Increase the excess to £250 - brought mine down another £15mth to £64.83 for the Comprehensive cover

I recently priced a warranty for my car (75k) with BMW.the cheapest I could get was their driveline option for £113 monthly with £250 excess and no road side cover. does this sound about right ? The car hasn't had warranty since 2011.

I'd probably think twice about bothering with Driveline at that price, as the cover is for a maximum of £5K. If they're stinging you £1400 a year for that, with a £250 excess, it doesn't look like such a great deal, given that Driveline doesn't cover a lot of the common niggly stuff that goes wrong.

My concern is for major faults, engine, box etc. but would also be nice for peace of mind.

If the cover is for £5k then it wouldn't cover an engine anyway.

I'd be gping for the comprehensive which is up to the value of the vehicle purchase price according to the BMW website:

Comprehensive cover provides our highest level of Insured Warranty protection. You'll find detailed below some of the features and benefits of the policy:
Cover against defect for the majority of mechanical and electrical components of your BMW
Components which are excluded from cover are specified in your policy
Option to include BMW Insured Emergency Service
Choice of annual or monthly cover
Choice of excess levels - £0, £100 or £250
Maximum claim limit is the purchase price paid for the vehicle (inclusive of VAT)
Not available for vehicles with mileage over 100,000 miles (at the time of purchasing the warranty)
