Cat d doesn't mean it has had a whack. Could be a stolen recovered. On some occasions, cars get stolen to order and the "order" requires the car to be in perfect condition to be sold abroad. So........it could have been stolen using the keys, carefully driven to a shipping container and then hidden away for export. The insurance has since paid out, and then the police find it. Check the history. After a while it will be come irrelevant - do people who buy E types today give a toss if it was bumped or stolen 30 years ago?

A cat d isn't my cup of tea - I had a cat d Audi, 10 years ago and struggled like hell to sell it which is why this csl hasn't sold. If it was £18,000, then it would probably sell. Just my opinion

I wouldn't buy it personally, but i reckon it will be a good car as I doubt Nick J will have taken it on otherwise - he's not going to take on something he can't sell, though he might not get exactly what he's wanting. Agree that the circumstances surrounding the theft should be checked out, then judgement is based on how long the buyer wants to keep it for I guess.

He does sale or return from what I understand

avoid at all costs. finance the difference for a clean example. having bought 3 and sold 2 csl's in the past, potential csl owners are a fickle breed with exacting requirements. the exception to the rule regarding cat d purchases is if its a keeper & you're caging it and/or racing/track car.

He does yes, but (at least I wouldn't if I was him) take on crap even on sale or return - it's still his reputation at the end of the day.

Agree the only reasons to take on stolen/recovered is if it's a keeper or going to be a purse track machine.
