Default induction flap !

alright all
i know there has been loads of gubbins put on here already about this blessed flap but can we just put the record strait once and for all,

with the flap removed i prefer the feel of the car at lower speeds because i dont have to have the sport button on to get the cracking noise and have the car being twitchy away from the lights ect.....

but i have heard about water being able to get into the engine and also reports of head gasgits going due to the flap being removed,

has this got any legs to it or is it a load of old crap ???

I wouldn't think so no. Think of those that drive the CSL with the flap in, , sport on, flat out all the time thus having the flap open all the time. I'm sure the airfilter would stop any rain or the likes getting into the engine anyway and besides, there's an air intake behind the scoop for when the flap IS closed anyway and what's stopping rain going in there?

I think it's tosh mate.

+1 We all run in Sport mode in the rain and never even think about that problem

If like me you is flapless, maybe a good idea in winter to cover the intake to prevent the ingress of vermin etc. and anything else that builds a fookin nest ! - no big pics of a Golden Eagles nest please !

Flapless is the way to go, I had issues with mine sticking so had it reset and then removed it.
That was over 2 years ago.

Been flapless for 2 years too...no issues so far!

In the winter I cover the intake entrance when the car is in hibernation.
