Marking the carrier and putting it back in the same place should in theory keep the alignment the same. Replacing or changing the bushes, fitting limiter plates etc will most likely change the alignment.
I would certainly advise alignment being checked, it seems such a waste to fit something that will improve the car and then only have half the improvement because the alignment is out. Also alignment is so cheap compared to a set of tyres, its a false economy not to get it atleast checked.

To be honest I'd just get the whole lot done by someone who knows what they are doing or I'd end up with a car that handled like a clown car :D
