Snetterton 300 first trackday report
Well its was bloody wet!!!! Focus events not the best 12 red flags before I left at 2,never said anything in the briefing about noise testing. Lined up in the pit lane for 25mins waiting to go out then got turned away
Anyhow about the track, this is going to be a great circuit to watch and to drive they have done a great job with the new infield, I will just give you a brief intro on how the circuit pans out - Start finsh and the first corner is the same Turn 2 is the hairpin they have made this corner extra deep plenty of space if you mess up on the brakes, its a typical slow in fast out late apex corner the apex is at the end of the rubble strip its quite important as the next 3 corners are left's so, with how the track days rules are you can only overtake on the left if you dont get a good exit you are open for an overtake. Up to turn 3, this corner is blind because of the barrier on the left so the turning is the key, turn in where the outside of the corner radious starts to turn left apex is at the end of the rubble strip but you should be on the gas before there, dont ride the exit curbs of this corner because they are not very long and you could easily put a wheel in the dirt Down the next short straight you should be able to get into 4th gear, down 2 gears for a sharp left same again slow in fast out, accelerate up into 3rd gear and turn in at the marshalls post, this is an open corner and you should be looking through it early if not you will run wide on the exit. The exit curb is too short so try keep off it quite a few spun off at this corner during the day. Quick squirt down to the next corner holding 3rd gear this is a double apex corner hit the first apex ad be on the gas straighten the wheel and let the car drift over to the left missing the second apex this is one of the corners you can actually get on the gas earilier than you think. The next corner is the one before the long back straight so you need to get a good exit, apex is at the end of the rubble strip and the track opens on the exit so you can gas it up early down the long back straight and the next left under the bridge is the same as before but the next right DONT ride the curb here becuase it has been raised quite high its a wheel breaker, through the bomb hole the same the new coram you turn later than before apex is the end of the rubble strip if not later watch the end of this corner because you have to come off the gas and on the brakes while you are still turning could be a few spinners here the last corner before start finish slow in fast out as before, two things to watch out for - if you go off you are going to have to be towed out because it is heavy mud and you sink to your axles, and keep away from the pasties in the cafe they cause heartburn!! Wheelsburg is sorting a vid out of the new circuit it will be along soon, hope you boys have a dry day for the circuit days event in march its a great new circuit |

Nice write up John. Good pointers.
You shouldn't be on the pasties anyway.

Not best quality vid. Think of it more as a Public Information Broadcast rather than entertainment!
