New Michelin Pilot Super Sport
Lots of things written about this new performance road tyres (about being as quick as Cups)
My gut feel is that it could well be better on track than Cup+ but probably not as good as Cups, def wont stand up tot he heat as well with deper rain channels, but will be very interesting to try. Anyway,. thought the comparison of Cups, Cup+, Ps2 and PSS would be interesting. look at the width of the rain channels!!!!!!!! PSS are narrower than even Cups. looks like a dry weather tyre to me! Cup on left has narrow channels (like new PSS) and Cup+ have wider channels (like old PS2) then take a look at new PSS below, maybe even less water channel width than Cups then old PS2 below

Do you know if the pilot cup sport compound has changed over the years shimmy? I mean its an old tyre now isn't it? surely there must have been developments in the past 8 years, which makes me think/hope this new super sport will be even better
Tread depth will always have a part to play in the heating up of the tyre like you say tho.... I just wonder waht the parameters were that are equal to the ps2 in this graph tho? at the very least it will be better on track than the ps2.. http://www.tirerack.com/videos/index.jsp?video=73& Interesting bit on the end of the video about different tread compounds across the tyre, plus no mention of the cup sport whatsoever Is he pulling nearly 1.5g in the corners?

I think it will comparable to Corsa R and Cup+ on track and the best tyre on road by a distance. Surface area has gotta be even more than Cup and as you say rubber tchnolocy moves on. My only concern over a road tyre used on track is that there has to be a compromise. First one is tread depth which will mean on hot track days the tyre will get very hot and maybe go off. Second is that or a tyre to be good inn wet and dry and cold, i cant see it working as well as a tyre built predominatnly for track use. i think if it was they would have had it replace both PS2 and Cup

i did but it didnt say anything really! just that its better than PS2. Contact patch is very important though so would love to try it. Probably a great option for the Ring on the CSL (save Glendog carrying those gayer pink rims around)

I'm probably gonna try a set early this year. Just been looking at Cup prices as all mine are pretty knackered now, so may as well try them out.

I'm with shimmy on this one.
I think its just a replacement for the PS2 and the cup+ I think what we will end up with is the PS3 then Super Sport then the Cup tyre. It's all about the EU on lowing the noise levels that tyres make, not how much G you can pull. T$

IMO this tyre is absolutely the last thing Rob wants The pink rims are the first step out of the closet, take that option away and it'll all just build up inside
