If no faults codes are stored in the DME, dealers are limited to what they can do under warranty (especially with insured / extended policies) however that doesn't mean they can't fix it. As mentioned earlier I would request a compression and cylinder leakage test are completed and ask for a copy of the results as I've seen the symptoms you describe caused by a head gasket failure.

In that particular case the car needed a block & pistons as the a groove had been cut into the block between the two of the cylinders as a result of the cylinders blowing into each other where the gasket had failed.

Hope you get it sorted.

This is why dealers suck balls! I used to work for one so I know what you are talking about. Yeah if there is no fault code they can t find anything, they are pretty useless mechanics to be fair!

Take it up with BMW UK if you get no joy from the dealer. The fact of the matter is that there is a problem with your car and just because they can t find it does not mean it does not exist!

It is all covered under warranty tell them to fix it or they will have BMW UK to deal with.

I can not believe how good the service is at MURKETTS, it was good the last time so I shouldn't be surprised.
Antony has taken over from Andy and giving the same superb service that you just don't get anywhere else. Gareth is looking after the car in the workshop. They got quite a long list from me and lets say they are addressing all I have pointed out plus other things they have noted

I can't tell you what my stuttering fault was as they are changing a multitude of things to resolve

If you have the BMW Approved Used Car warranty they should fix it what ever it is,as the AUC warranty is better than the extendable warranty which most of us have.I would phone BMW UK and tell them.
