I'm Ipso on that PH post.. moving out of the CSL soon and into a 997. Love the CSL but feel like it's time for a change. Time will tell if it's the right decision..

Flamesuit on !
does make me chuckle when people refer to the CSL as a road legal race car. No its not, lets not get too excited lads ;-) I have an actual road legal race car and guess what? You'd not want to drive it on the road anywhere. I've a deposit down on a GT2 RS - now that is indeed an interesting motor. Enough performance to qualify as a race car, but still refined enough you can pop to the shops :-) |

Last time i checked a roll cage was mandatory for racing, hence not a race spec car ;-)
For me, if you want to get into the "what deems a road going race car?" then I'd say that the car must be capable of serious trackwork without upgrades. The CSL is not that car. A GT3 is. My bro used to wind me up about the evo, the fact that you had to constantly keep checking it, everything was custom. He joked that the GT3 driver just turns up at a trackday, does the day and can go to work in it the next day...which is the truth. very few cars can do decent trackwork without upgrades. My bro's R26R - about as close as you can get to a track car with its semislicks, cage, harnesses and buckets - fries the brakes, so they had to be upgraded. assuming I turn out to be one of the 500 (porsche still haven't confirmed who's getting one) it will be a very interesting proposition. I've questioned many times whether its even worthwhile - no mere mortal should be let free with that amount of potential, but should I get one I can always sell it, probably for more and certainly for what I paid... |

CSL is a road car built for the Ring, nothing more, nothing less.
Fuck knows why Porsches put cages and full cages at that in road cars
