Maybe this is a new thing. I will have all info tomorrow so I will post any news. I have definitely been told by a BMW employee that the warranty does not start until after 1 month of me taking ownership of the car. Madness.

This makes sense to me.
I made a claim on the warranty (just) within a month of ownership from a BMW dealer. The bill came to £7k There was a stand off between Sytner and the warranty company. Eventually, the warranty company paid, although they said the same to me - ie within a month, it is back to the selling dealer to sort...... It presumably stops dealers spinning a car in need of work, pocketing profit and then leaving you high and dry to sort things out with the warranty company. Apparently, its a legal agreement, so either way, you should be covered if something happens. |

I'm not sure why this would apply to a car you bought from a dealer but it is common for aftermarket warrantys. In fact, its more like 3 months.
The idea is you don't buy a shed of a car, get a warranty and then keep claiming until its fixed.
