Gutted as my passenger laps in it at the Ring were awesome along with your commentary and tips! It'll be back up and running soon as you know it!

Bad luck. Assuming it is the vanos could it be that it too needs running in?
At some point soon you will have a new car with the way you are going. |

Update, Andy reckons it IS the alt bearings as I first premised, he reckons you can stand at different positions around the front of the car, and the noise comes from all angles, using a screwdriver as a steffa, stetho, ... one of those fookin things doctors use ! .. isolates it somewhat, and he has come across this before, and it was indeed the alt bearings sending the noise around the engine ... Dolby surround engine ??... awaiting a reply to my email of a few moments ago.

Spot on then Dunc, you ran it in well enough mate so can't see it being an engine problem, Alt. is much quicker and easier to fix!

All is well, apologies for the delay, alternator solved the noise issue, and bigger speakers helped !

Impressive, considering Andy Pressland has been off work, all week. He's back on Monday
