CSL now 1.1kg lighter !
I took the glovebox out of my car today to see if I could cure the rattle that the lid was making...
Behind it I found an old SatNav system that must have been fitted by a previous owner, so I carefully pulled it all out, apart from one antenna lead which disappeared somewhere inside the dashboard never to be seen again. So that's lightened the car by 1.1 kg The even better result is that the glovebox lid is fixed and no longer rattles The bad news is that there's now a new and even more annoying buzz coming from behind the glovebox where some wires must be free to move about So it's all got to come out again tomorrow. Oh well.

The only thing written on the flatter box is "SMART NAV UK MC55", and it has a SIM card in it, which makes me think it must be one of these:
http://www.smartnav.com/index.asp But there was no head unit or mic connected and no wiring for one that I could find, so perhaps it was only set up as a speed camera detector (there was a speaker). The other box I suppose might be a separate tracker system.

1.1KG would be pretty damn impressive - a lot of curry needed I think.

sorry its a little late
The unit you have (had) is a Thatcham approved Tracker unit. I've just put one in my Scooby. There are 2 coax connectors, one for the GPS receiver and the other one to transmit for the GPRS mobile phone network to the monitoring station when the bad people take it !
Can also alarm if it gets moved more than 100m without the ignition being on |
