I don't have a clue about the Coils references, They are probably the original ones, (car has only 35000miles) and none seem's to have been changed according to all the maintenance and Bills histories I have from the previous owners.
My Car should be arrived or on it's way to the Bmw Dealer around Le Mans today. I'll give a Ring around 4pm today to see what'up with reception of my car. But They won't make any diagnostic today on it, and probably not even this week.... Massive problem in France is to get a simple appointement for a bmw oil change it self, they are totally overbooked and sometime it takes up too 3 weeks to have an inspection One appointement... No big deal, I'm leaving France this week for around 2 weeks for my work, so whatever time it take to get it done, I won't be able to get it back before first week of April. Off course, if the diagnoctic brings out a coil problem, I'll have all spark plugs and coils changed out Wait and See..

Yep, the gorilla is quite correct as usual - the original ones are a nightmare, well worth swapping them to the newer ones.

Hi,
Bounce- I do not think there is changeover date as such, so its luck of the draw and what was in the parts bin when your car passed it by. My CSL had Bemis in it when I purchased it but it was S/H, so who knows. Was the first thing I changed. Regards, The Gorilla. |

I was under the impression there was a part number change to the later ones? I don't know them by name only early and late, I may be wrong.

I all
Had just the the feedback of Bmw following the DIS Check done this morning Nothing broken, translate to english, the guy told me (it's not even very clear to me but it would say ) started with and followed with: 1) Misfire cylinder N°5 due to low petrol injection feed 2) Misfire cylinder N°5 safety engine mode engaged (ignition problem) 3) Safety mode engaged due to bad lambda measures 4) Misfire cylinder N°3 and 5 5) Catalyst protection mode engaged due to bad lambda measures 6) Misfire cylinder N°5 safety engine mode engaged (ignition problem) I have No clue and no idea about what is really wrong, My petrol tank was not empty, still had around 1/4 of it, and the orange tank light low level was not on... when I got the car out of the track an hour later engin cooled down, It started again on 6 and 3 miles driven on streetroad , I lost again one cylinder. I got the tank filled up and the ignition on the cylinder never came back even by driving 2 or 3 miles... On Bmw side, they started the car this morning let it run 30mn and all was ok (without changing any parts), they drove it around easy (due to the crack in the brake rotor) without any problems... it take it's 8000rpm and so on... From there point of view, they suspect coil Cylinder N°5 and eventually the N°3 to be weak.... I took option and told them to change all coils and spark plugs and eventually change or clean injector and clean injections lines

Hi,
The Bremi Coils were used by BMW from the outset, then for whatever reason they started with their 'own' COP which were used on the X5/7's etc and so on. The Bremi's were used up, and phased out but they were already using its replacement. Interestingly, all NA S54 Cars upto I think it was late 2004 early 2005 got Bremi's !! So with 10 BHP less, Bremi COP, solid Front and rear Discs, even slower SMG Software, the guys in Munich, apprently still have some issues with North America. Regards, The Gorilla. |
