'Forgot to say mine was £33k in Sept 2006 with 16k on the clock.

Funny thing is a car with the same mileage probably would be no different now!

Yep, I agree Shimmy. You would still that kind of money if the condition was good.

My car was via a chap called Chris based in South London.

He was one of those people that you could tell by the way the paperwork was presented, the car would be mint (still has the tyre warning stickers in the window).

Also, he took a 3K hit and booked it in for the oil service which was very good of him - especially as his phone didn't stop ringing. So 28K for a 25K mile car

mine came from a main dealer in Nov 2007, had 38k on it. the PX was just to good to refuse, which essentially meant my CSL cost me 26k which i paid in cash. i was also looking at a 14k car that was up at £38k and 16k at £37k both private sales.

i'm hoping that i would get somewhere in the region of 23-24k for it now, however the other two cars with 20k miles added would have lost 10k perhaps? therefore i think i made a wise buy. plus i've used it every day and not worried about milage.

Bought mine from a BMW main dealer with 12k miles.

I went with DonkCSL to lift his in Yorkshire & within a few miles said “I’ve got to have one of these”

In circumstances like this I’m one for rash decisions but 3-4 weeks later I was starting to lose heart that a well looked after example wasn’t going to appear as quick as I’d like.

I looked everywhere I could think of, became second nature to look up Piston Heads etc (back then cslreg was in its early days).

Then one Sunday morning in autopilot mode looked up BMW’s used car web site & saw this low mileage car, I was like were did that come from it wasn’t there yesterday.

So first thing Monday morning rang the dealer,

Me - “I’m ringing about the CSL”

Dealer - “what CSL”

Me - “the one on your web site”

Dealer - “we have no CSL’s & if there was I would know about it I’m the sales manager”

5 minutes later I get a call back,

Dealer - “there is one, its in the valeting bag, came in late Friday afternoon, bad news though, somebody is on their way down from Aberdeen to look at it & there is someone on the phone with my colleague from N. Ireland as we speak”

Me - “here is £1000 deposit & send yer man back home to Aberdeen”

The next morning Donk & I went over to have a look at the car & was very pleased with what I saw, literally couldn’t find a fault & was the best car buying experience I’ve had previously & since, very relaxed BMW dealership not your usual marbles in your mouth kiss your ass garage.

The chap came out greeted us put trade plates on the car, started to give Donk directions & I was thinking what’s he doing that for surely he’ll be coming with us, then disappeared. We had a look round the car, looked at one another & said flip they’re very trusting here, got into the car, started it, still no sign of the sales guy, after a few minutes I spotted him in the showroom so said “we’ll head towards the gate & if he doesn’t make a run for it we’ll keep going”. I stopped at the gate looked in the rear view mirror & he was just standing watching us so we kept going. Unbelievable BMW dealers here would be reluctant to let you sit in a car in the showroom never mind an unaccompanied test drive.

On the test drive we found some decent roads & on the return to the dealership expected the chap to come out a little discontent as we’d been away for a while, but no, smile on his face “well guys how was that” we shook hands “I’ll have that”.

3 years coming this summer I’m still extremely happy with my purchase that day, I’ve had an itch to change but never felt the need to scratch it & if I do it certainly wouldn’t be an E92 M3 & probably won’t be a GTS either as they’re GT3 money, quite the car boys!
