Default Warranty - is worth it! This year at least...

Feeling rather glad that i renewed my warranty back in April as i have had 2 claims since...

1st claim: Throttle potentiometers went at the Ring back in May - £300

2nd claim: Car went in to have its driver side wishbone replaced after Simpson Motosport noted there was play in the lower ball joint whilst having my KWs fitted recently - £550!

As most of you know, my car is what you might call somewhat 'modified' from standard and is known to be 'occasionally' tracked by the service department lads at my local stealers - who approve of me using a CSL 'properly'

All warranty work done without question

Good stuff. Trackday use shouldn't ever be a problem for warranty. During the past six years I've had loads of stuff replaced and some of it BECAUSE I was doing a trackday in the near future (like a diff that I thought sounded iffy and told them I didn't want it to let go down Craners)

This makes good reading as I always wonder, even though mine is pretty standard.

They even replaced an exhaust bracket on mine a couple of months ago, even though I've got a Milltek fitted! No questions asked!

Yep the warranty gets the big thumbs up from me and i will be renewing next year...

You only have to look at Marks example to realize that it's a must.

I know this is a blast from the past, but a similar question in the same vein:

I'm considering taking up the warranty as the car can be covered... looking at it though, and speaking to the reps, they won't cover wear and tear.

I'd imagine problems with clutch/SMG would be considered wear and tear to a degree... do you guys think they would cover things like sgm pumps going bad?

(Is this a can of worms?)

my advice it take the BMW warranty if you are doing more than 5k miles a year

however BMW replaced my Clutch, flywheel and gearbox at 45k miles with no warranty!

ETA: Not taking any risks so taken out the insurance anyway!
