Is it easy to remove the elec window surround from the console...

Yep you did...very true....
So is it a case of just taking an allan key to the SMG surround.

Centre 'chrome' ring just prises up as does the switch surround (they aren't real allen bolts). They are both held in place by plastic clips and just need some gentle persuation to remove with a flat blade screwdriver or similar. Just don't be too forceful and take care not to mark plastics... I'm sure Mark's video will make it all clear
