Maybe i'm missing the point, i thought you put one in for 'hero points,' like leaving your towing eye in all the time or quoting Vin Diesel when you pull up next to Doris in her Micra at a set of lights...

Is is it possible to install a fire extinguisher in the CSL, either in front of the driver's seat (standard seat) or in the boot without drilling or changing the car?
theodoros

The answer is yes it is possible as I did it.

I don't have any pics, but if you can follow me then it goes like this.

Basically, I used the 2 fasteners that secure the front passenger mat to the carpet to secure a plank of wood to the carpet (with the mat removed). The extinguisher bracket was fitted to the plank of wood.

This was secure enough to do the job and whilst it's not as secure as drilling through the floor, it was fine at a recent track day at Brands Hatch and can be removed afterwards. It was certainly good enough for the job and I would do it again.

The piece of wood was probably 4 or 5 inches wide by half inch thick. The wood was cut to a length to fit in front of the passenger seat, obviously longer than the space between the 2 fasteners.

Then marked out where the 2 holes were to go and drilled 2 holes. Now the piece of wood was too thick for the fastener to attach through the wood and into the carpet. So I used a flat drill bit of a size larger than the diameter of the top of the fastener to bore out the hole, deep enough to provide a stable platform for the fastener to rest on, but not too deep so that it went through the piece of wood - a flat drill bit is like the image below..

Hope I haven't confused you there.

Now that the car is owned by Ducade on here, I'll ask him to take some phots and post them up. But this way the whole extinguisher can be removed when you don't need it.

Cheers

Terry

LOL - fair point, but you don't NEED it when not on the track or doing a 30-130 day

Just came across this Fire extinguisher mount from VAC if you wanted to consider theodoros.
