Mishimoto rad and electric fan kept water down all day.
Car felt amazing, think by the last session I fully worked it out. Really want to go back now. I managed 187 track miles yesterday. So 90+ laps. With a couple of warm ups but tended to do minimum of 3 and sometimes 5 cool down laps to perfect lines and keep off brakes. Just under 400 for the day, 100 miles to track, 100 miles back. Blast back with john was a laugh. Found a KFC on route so I was happy. I ran for me a conservative geo, only -3.2 upfront. Which I knew by the end of the day I would muller the front passenger left due to rising the kerbs after craners and the blind right turn before back straight. Morning started off Damp and I found the track didn't really runner in. I bought a infra red temperature gauge and found on my setup I only had a difference of 10 Celsius from inner to outer edge in front and rear. I just couldn't get a good amount of heat into them, played with 26 hot, 28 hot, 30 hot, then ran at 25 hot. Was taking 3 laps to get ready. Had a good spin/drift on first lap of a session on cold slicks by Mcleans, braked hard, turned in and rear over took the front, nailed throttle, let go of wheel (andy walsh thought me that) Then ended up going straight on. Unlike Ade, in the gravel trap. This is the first track day since airbox and supersprint race. For me they just completed my build as this whole build has been based on the feel and noise from my old Csl on track. Even though I ran slicks the dunlop 03G would do that. I managed to record 90% of the day and had most cars on, only the first session filmed the correct way. All my other footage is of Me driving like this. Here are a few other pictures from the day. Mine and johns. Went out with john twice. By the end of the day john really impressed me. Very quick, I watch him display some good skills on track. If you want to watch loads of videos of my head this is the only one I have that's forward facing. I'm gutted as had some really good sessions, one had about 10 M3's on and Ariel atom This is 2nd session, out of pits behind this lot, cold ish slicks and track getting some heat into it. Has black m3, silver grey m3 and m3 cup car. Had a chat with Luke after, really nice guy. Hopefully I can get racing one day when the kids are older. Changed discs and pads over. Had a touch as had a new set of front pads and bells lying around so was quicker to swap over.
Disc's didn't actually look the best: Inside looked the same with a few big cracks. Snapped a set of discs before and not again. Old v New: Fitted: My anti squeal pads lasted 100 road miles, 87 laps of Donny and the 100 mile drive home. So had a look to see what state they were in as started to knock: Stuck the new pad on: This is the stuff I put in with the oil: My steering has a bit of play after Donny and need to fit some new wishbones as ball joint knackered. Gave the old bird a clean: Got some slicks to fit: |

Looks really nice Billy.
Really not sure you need the oil additive. I've always been against them. Regular oil/filter changes will do all the protection you'll ever need. Damage only starts after the oil breaks down.

So when both wishbones were removed we found someone fitted aftermarket passenger side wishbone. So the drivers side was still ok after 59k miles and the aftermarket one had failed in probably less than 10k miles.
Both were replaced with OEM Wishbones. Steering feel is now perfect. Went back to a more track orientated geo front and rear. New PF discs through the TD rims. Looking forward to Snetterton in a couple of weeks. |
