Been distracted of late, front end of the track car ready but still got to weld the plates in and fit AKG solid bushes, missed out on a couple of track days which Im annoyed about.
Bought some new genuine rims for the CSL with Goodyear Eagle F1's and front bumper and splitters getting a rub down and painted. Binned the slicks for the track car as want to learn how to drive it properly on road tyres. So trying out CUP2 with the OEM 18's stripped and painted in gloss black. Putting OEM bonnet back and removing wings for these carbon fibre ones. Going to try and get on track at Snett on the 17th Sept. Last edited by billyboysm3; 02-10-2015 at 07:11 PM. |

Holy fuck!!!! Just picked car up from Adem, last time I drove it, it was pretty much oem bar coilovers and AP's and 4.1 diff.
The 50 miles home was insane. All akg solid bushes, h and r anti roll bars, rear control arms, solid control mounts, akg shifter, lightweight flywheel clutch, tie rod arms, sparco steering wheel and solid steering coupler, all from Martin, track m3. The car connects up to the road so well, I love the noise, not over the top. Akg ahifter is awesome, steering is like a go kart, pretty heavy with minimal movement. Back to Bedford to see how the car handles. Been to Bedford about 5 times now, 3 in this M3. And last track day here. Then off to donny which I've done once before. Pretty confident that this will be able to hook Bedford up much better than before. |

Bedford GT went really well, the car balance is insane. Managed to do lots of 4/5 lap sessions tweaking the tyre pressures and intrax settings. Managed to find the best one's after lunch. The turn in is like a go kart, I didn't really push the car hard, mainly short shifted and tried different lines. After session 4 my go pro ran out of battery, had a good video of Jada and his mate in his M3. 3 points of the track where the mods really benefited: (Akg Solid bushes/engine trans mounts, steering coupler, new arms, H&R anti roll bars front and rear) was the fast right turn after the pits to the main straight. I could take this flat out in 5th but pushed right hand wheels nearly onto the curb. In the end I maintained gas and nailed it when the steering was at a less acute angle. Chicane at the back straight, I exited the hairpin in 3rd and was taking really tight karting lines as the front end had so much grip, set the H&R front bar to hard and rear to soft. I think I can run rear harder. I found shifting down to 4th to do the chicane cost me MPH and tended to take it in 5th and carry the speed whilst staying in track limits. MSV marshalls were on top form. I didnt take the mickey stamping on the brakes first off as didn't fancy miss shifting the AKG Shifter before the turn in. Next time out I could brake halfway between the brake board and turn in cone. Solid AKG steering coupler with new track rod arms and Bimmer world solid control mounts gave me such precise steering, no play what so ever. Then the back end of the circuit after the hairpin the car just hooks up the the right hander and quick left, left hander, virtually no roll or lack of front end grip and able to get on power early. AKG Trans / Engine mount and solid bushes make the car flex, they do give loud cabin noise when warm but the car doesn't move and the balance and confidence through the corners means cornering faster is easy. This car is so easy to drive. Lightweight fly wheel clutch does chatter when hot, I love it, not sure you want it in a road car. Martin track m3 supplied all the AKG, H&R parts and my mate Adem fitted all the bits. I ran -4.5 camber up front and -2.2 on the rear. Car is still on full fat oem exhaust so will change that over to Superspint cats, non res pipe and miltek back box. Had a play with a GT3 on here, 3.40 in: |
