They now say they want authorisation for clutch replacement before they even strip, which is £819 + VAT.

They also claim that the "minimum for the rivets is 1mm, and mine is below this". Can they tell without strip down?

Thinking telling them to leave it and taking it to Bartletts at some point for a proper assessment. The slur isn't even that bad at the moment....

Also seriously thinking of ditching the warranty.

Had full warranty for 5 years and never claimed or should I say each time (twice) I submitted a claim the issue was rejected.

As the csl has aged the warranty peeps are casting a more forensic eye over submitted claims. The days of getting everything claim approved are over.

Agreed that warranty is not worth the money now

For what it's worth I have had clutch slur on & off for over nine years. The only time it goes away 100% is after a track day/driving lesson. Pottering around always seems to bring back a little slur. Luckily I can find a few private roads to use the car as intended.

I wouldn't spend the money until I have had a second opinion from Giraffe.

If it's not too bad then maybe get your next oil/inspection service done at Barletts and ask them to diagnose it at the same time?
Think this is what I will do.

I'll second that sentiment I've stopped mine in 2013 after the Munich 10 Year CSL Anniversary Euro trip.

No warranty, although I try to cover as much as I can with various preventative maintenance and regular servicing instead. Can't imagine it'll be too long before none of the remaining Cesils are running warranties

Wish I could get one for the E34 though!

After the mix up the conclusion was the box needed to be taken out to inspect. At £900 plus VAT, with an expensive holiday next week, I didn't take the risk.

Has anyone ever known a box being stripped and the clutch actually worn hence not covered?

Going to monitor slur over the next few months and it will be back it for a strip down when I'm more comfortable with the risk, or when I have done more research!

Thanks to those who offered advice.

You either have a very small leak in the SMG system, gearbox spring broken but working, clutch needs replacing or something along these lines. Try find my thread on this and it will detail what I did and how I have ZERO slur. Mine may not be your problems but it will provide you an idea.
