install is straight forward, just remove the mechanical fan/shroud for access and than remove the oil filter housing and swap out the oem looking thermostat with this valve and put it back together. I believe this part makes the oil temp warm up slower which isn't a problem in the summer but it might be an issue for cold winter driving Getting the OEM thermostat out is pretty easy. There was a circlip that holds everything in place. Once the circlip was removed, pull out the thermostat which consisted of a spring, the brass thermostat, and a flange that allowed the circlip to hold everything in place. Then put the diverter valve in the OFH, put the flange on top of the diverter valve and then install the circlip to hold it in place. Last edited by Mark CSL; 02-08-2014 at 06:26 PM. |

Had 2nd track day with m3 (first day had a lot otf problems with tyres rubbing wheel arch liners) and after about 10 laps water temp goes really nearly in red, after cool down lap temp back to normal. I have bought a motorsport thermostat and fan as well as oil diverter valve. Car was going well just under 2 secs of best csl lap, still getting used to it.
