need a little help :)
Had to get the RAC out tonight the car would not shift up or down and loss of power. From restarting the car still refused to change gear and no power.
After a short while with multiple restarts manage to get it back to 0 and off i went only for it to happen a few miles down the road hence the RAC call. The codes where 124, 40 and 17 what are they exactly? on a note i did flatten the battery in the bloody end so that might be one of the fault codes. Also the RAC Bloke said he knew "Mark" got a CSL and a porker and had brought a E30 M3 off him. Before I get a warranty call made just want to see how serious this is. thanks in advance |

thanks for the reply
the codes I suspect where from the RAC own Software tool. Relooking at the service sheet he gave me it does actually say RAC scan fault code (EODB Reading for garage use) (if thats any use) i have used google to try find them but no success from memory last night and a uick search on google the link is below http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RAC-DIAGNO...item460659ce2b of the tool he used also going back in my foggy head one of the codes indiciated lambda sensor after 2nd cat? (could be wrong on that) |

Standard OBD2 codes says:
40 is O2 sensor bank 2 sensor 2 124 is air intake temp sensor 1 17 is O2 sensor bank 1 sensor 2 Bank 1 is driver side, bank 2 is passenger side (or was it vice versa .... haha I need to check my notes!!) Hope that helps. Personally I wouldn't trust those generic obd2 scanner - they just don't report correctly from experience. Get someone with a GT1 to scan it for you. Given that it's related to gear shifting, I'd have thought it was SMG related. Last edited by NZ_M3; 03-02-2013 at 10:39 AM. |
