Default The best M3? It's the 1M.....

When you are in love is hard to take criticism
The first article I read that criticise (slightly) the CSL....quite harsh comment about the SMG.....
Do you agree??? Is it a fair comment?

A good few of us have already had our say over there. There's been a bit of negative CSL press within the PH user-community for a long time. They don't like the idea of their shopping falling through the boot floor

The SMG gearbox is almost as misunderstood as the CSL itself. Some think it's an AUTO On top of that they are comparing 10 year old technology with the more recent BMW M-arketing products. I'd say there's a compliment to the CSL somewhere in there
Don't worry and take it with a pinch of salt People (especially some of the PHers) are entitle to their own opinions, no matter how misguided they may be.

I'm guessing that they are supposed to be ironic that the best M3 (a 3 series car), is a 1M (a 1 series car)? Or are they actually stupid enough to compare apples with bananas.

They were right about the brakes though....

Criticism is usually born form Ignorance this particularly applies to some of the Numpties that frequent 'PH' which is full of jealous Wannabees, eager and willing to take a pop at every and any opportunity.

It will be interesting to see what the 'Numpties' have to say when the Euro-Trip feature hits the pages, wall to wall CSL's as far as the eye can see, courting controversy or what - CSL overdose? Stuff em! Make them have it

::To be fair to Dale I think he criticises well.
Particularly in relation the brakes and manual shifting on track in comparison to the smg and it's particular attributes.

Anyroad, it's just an article that has some stuff that we are all interested in.

Brakes ? YES but it's no BIG news as they've been criticised from new... SMG ? no, not really.
I understand Dale knows his Ring related stuff but just because he experienced a CSL with what sounds like a failing SMG box, possibly with a faulty SMG pump not allowing the fluid to flow therefore boiling over and then to go on and blanket that experience over all the CSLs in existence is, at the very least unfair.
There may have been an occasional SMG pump that's been replaced under warranty (not mine) however it's not as if it's a common SMG problem on here, amongst us CSL owners. When was the last time anyone on here complained about their SMG gearbox ?

Exactly, that's why I got my knickers in a bit of a twist over it. All these "experts" piping up over there, even talking about "American CSLs" FFS!

I wonder if yer man really does work for BMW R&D in Munich btw? I noticed he was banging on about N/A 6-pots being so great, and yet drove a 944 S2 himself Can't imagine BMW would be too happy with some of his comments, like anyone with a convertible M3 SMG being a numpty
