Nail on head..... maybe, anyway its done now, hopefully I will learn from it Quote:
Not sure I am pleased to be classed as typical Ian I will ask john tho to see if he is typical too but as I see it, I turned in a little too early, was on the inside kerbs applying a fair bit of power when I hadn't really got it turned enough, like you say crest on exit, on 6 yr old dogs head tyres...... inevitable edited to add - I was sideways down the straight after druids too later on - that 'little' crest on the exit was the cause - I don't seem to be learning do I! lolbut I caught that one... just

Aye Jim the bump on exit of druids is a right bugger if it catches you! Lodge should be walk in park after cutting your teeth on druids :-)

As Billy will attest, I did this at Andy Walsh day, only I mashed the throttle instead of the brake....... I ended up in Hertfordshire ! |

Its all very easy to comment just looking at the video.
At first most peoples initial reaction is to lift, usually as they are applying opposite lock. The weight transfer then upsets the car massively and can cause serious consequences. You did well to hold it mate. In time you will learn to keep constant throttle and ride it out gradually, granted sometimes physics cannot be overturned, but the majority of the time they are saveable. You will find it will just feel natural and you will no longer panic. I did what you did and immediately lifted, it upset the car, the car moved out onto greasy track, well you know the rest. Silly mistake by me, I am by no means the greatest drifter, but I feel I have decent car control when its not pointing the right way. But it bit me and bit hard. Combination of lots of things, overcooked tyres, new plated diff that was more aggressive than standard, cold tyres, and me being a twat. |

I've done similar there. I avoided a spin, but my mate big Jim and I had a little scenic drive over the grass. It's very hard to get it into your head not to lift.

Even tho I'm a newbie to this rwd shite, I do normally keep it pinned, on the rare occasions I am reckless enough to induce it but this time it just snapped so fast, I just twirled like mad, and totally forgot about throttle
I thought I did fairly shit tbh in not saving it, so thanks to everyone for saying well done ( or are you all being nice ) but it's given me a little more respect for these matters now
