To save clogging up the bord I said I would throw this here:

I just spotted it while browsing on my lunch break.

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/3850456.htm

What are peoples opinions on it? Forgiving the replacement of the bumper and bonnet (which I would be a little wary about), what do you generally think fo the car?

To be honest, I am not looking for a sub 50k which will be garaged all its life, I plan to drive the car once I get it. Looking at the service history, alathough diff seals have been done, should I be worried that there's no mention of upgrades under recall and no mention of attention to the clutch?

Would be very interested to hear you opinions on this one!

If it's now Cat D like the advert implies, then I wonder if 19 grand is cheap enough - the "lorry reversed into it" story may be true, but what about when you come to sell it and that story is now second/third hand, will a subsequent buyer be convinced ?

Shimmy would know how much it went for last year, I think you'd want to get it for at least 30% under that amount, and it may be a great buy at that price depending on what you're planning to do with it.

just to note any potential buyer interested in the sg one on pistonheads. don't be put off by people saying 'incomplete service history' it's only an issue IF you want a bmw warranty. if say its not been serviced for 2 years and 3 months does'nt mean its a bad car. as with that low milage tbo it may not need one (although its nice for peace of mind). seems a fair few cars one here get slated for 'incomplete service history'.

Only because a few cars on here have had new engines at £15k+ and anybody wishing to get warranty would not get it on a car with an incomplete service history. It probably is a very good car

+1,

It's just about the warranty. Seeing how many cars get slated for not having it, makes me want one more.

I feel a poll brewing ..... How many owners have the warranty?

tbo tho if your buying a csl under 50k miles you'd be stupid not to take a warranty out as it works out around £980 ish a year. which is fuck all as it would soon pay for itself. but if like me your in the over 60k plus club it jumps up to around £2000 a year for a warranty and for me (in the motor trade) its just not worth it.

edit-
in answer to your question as to how many on here have warranty's i'd guess at well over half.
