It does look like a well kept car but with a running in service 2000 miles to late as he rightl pints out, the engine warranty is useless.

Also last service was Aug 2009 so 30 months ago so any bmw warranty is bmw worthless now. Strange that he is so careful apparently but misses the 2 year service.

Good honest advert though it seems

I agree! It probably is a bit too much money in today's climate and probably a bit lower would probably be more realistic and see it sell more quickly.

To be honest, I've only put it up that high because I don't 'really' want to sell it at all...I just waited so long to get one...it just placates 'her inside the doors' to 'think' that I'm actually trying to sell it! I mean just yesterday I even bought a high quality indoor cover to keep it covered up in my garage.

Re: Getting an 'interim' Oil Service. I should have done this like last July...but with over 8000 miles still to go until its 'proper' scheduled Oil Service and the fact that I've only driven it about 7-800 miles in over a year of ownership and probably only about 120 miles since July I think I'm just going to take a proper 'thinking man's approach' from now on. The reality is I've just been too busy with other things in my life to be able to take it anywhere I would trust to service it. I took it to my local BMW Maindealer in Shrewsbury out of necessity to get the rear coil springs replaced under warranty because I discovered one was snapped when I first got it and they also put in a new stereo/CD player. But I hate the place and wouldn't trust them at all to do any servicing on the car! To find time to drive it all the way to on of the forum recommended places just hasn't been an option for me this year.

I've now owned BMWs for a full 30 years and frankly this whole prescriptive 'servicing schedule thing' is just bollox. Yeah, it'll may cause an issue with the warranty company...so y'know what? Stuff'em! I think I'll just keep the car, not renew the warranty and they won't get another of my near £900 at the end of September.

I now know that the car is an otherwise good, honest car having 'tested' it for those 800 miles. Yes, the first owner was an idiot for not having had the running-in service done on time. The Comprehensive BMW Warranty doesn't seem to be helping me sell the car (even though they've actually always paid out on every little thing and it was important factor to me to have this at purchase time!) in the face of the late running-in service (which frankly, has seemed almost like putting up a 'recorded' car for sale!) it's not proving as important to other potential buyers. Fair enough though...as we're all big boys and gals and we all make our own choices.

The lesson I learnt though was through a friend who prior to me buying this car, bought his third CSL. It was a private sale of a car that had done similar miles. It was a car that had been heavily 'tracked' however. Even on the drive home from Hampshire it immediately threw up a gearbox warning light, the private seller didn't want to know and it cost him an immediate £5K to fix it. then it threw up an engine problem which cost him several £K more...and that car had had its "all important running-in service" on time...a phrase I'm frankly sick of reading in adverts now as you can imagine? He actually offered his car to me thereafter at several £Thousand less than I paid for my car an I declined it simply because at the point of purchase there was no warranty on it.

Anyway, until in the unlikely event that anyone comes along and takes a similar view to me before September's end I'll just keep it....and thereafter I'm probably saddled with it for life! Not a bad thing to be saddled with though?
