Turner Motorsport adjustable top mounts - settings?
As above. I bought the car with these fitted and have never adjusted them. I have an idea of what they do but would like to know what the best settings are and how to adjust.
I have attached pictures of the current settings (unchanged for 5 years of road and track). I have also attached a pictures of the front tyres I bought with it that have only been used on track and the trip to and from the Nordschleife (only the Nordschleife I have never been to any other tracks - I say this as I assume some settings are more suited to different types of track). As you can see the camber is such that the inners of the tyres are going first. Whilst I can see the point of this on track for optimum performance presumably a more neutral setting should be used for more even tyre wear when on road. Not really having a clue they may well be in a neutral setting already and the tyre wear may be caused by something else ie worn balljoints or just working hard on track. For adjustments is it just a case of jacking the car up and undoing and moving the allen keys within the top mount. Should both sides be on the same settings??? Plenty of questions for all you experts. Any help appreciated. Pip |

The adjustable top mounts basically allow you to move the strutt to alter the camber (and therefore also the toe by default) by 0-1 degree without having to adjust any suspension components under the car. It basically means you can change camber to suit the road/track conditions.
Your wear is really nothing to do with these as you have not over the top mounts, it is more to do with the settings of the geometry onthe cars suspension that were done by the previous owner. You really need to get someone to redo the geometry so that you have a set toe/camber/castor for road use and also know that the settings are correct when the top mount is adjusted (as it is possible to alter the top mounts and the camber and toe combined cause excessive wear together- this maybe is where you car is at) Somewhere like Simpsons will do this or any good garage who understands what the top mounts do.

Cheers Shimmy, I assume that once I do this I will be able to make minor 'standard' adjustments on myself before going on track and then a 'reset' for my journey home and any normal road use.

The geo settings will set up the car front to say -3 camber and then when adjusted to -2 camber. The mechanic will adjust the toe in/out to suit both scenarios (both bit of a compromise). If they don't check the toe and set it to suit both cameras then it can go wrong badly. You can then choose our own camber between -2 and -3 and on one of both sides. Takes 5 mins to change.
