Default 285's all round?

Ahoy chaps.

Bit of a technical one.

I'm currently running 265/35/18's in Federal RS-R flavour (rears all round) and I've got an opportunity to run 285/30/18's for pretty good value.
So ignoring money / steering feedback completely and purely looking at fitment, will the front arches accept a 285? The 265 clears with no problems, and I can wind on to 3 degree's of camber too (currently with 2.5) - but I can't find any information at all on the matter.

Some race cars run as wide - if not wider - tyres but they could be chopped and changed to high heaven!

i think 285 will be a problem on the fronts.

Don't know of any narrow body race cars running a 285 on the front.

I run a 250 front and I can't see how I could fit that much more tyre in.

No way 285 will fit and what the point ?

265 on 9.5j hits the outside of arches through the fox hole ! and the rubber was within 3mm of the coilovers.

Hi,

285' fronts will make the steering 'tramline'
something stupid.

Regards,

The Gorilla.

do you mean the fuchsrohre area of the ring the english translation is foxpipe apparently when the track was being built a fox was disturbed by workers, upon which it fled and hid in a drain pipe. Some usless information for you all there i have plenty more like people think flugplatz translated is flying place, not because of the jump there as per old csl photo but there was an airfield for gliders to the left, and did you know tiergarten is actually a animal cemetry.

Hi Al

Lee here, Neil's brother (who has your old MX5). I hear you bought daniels' car ? Small world....

I run 265/35/18 all round also on an ET30. There's not much clearance between coilover and tyre (but still, its clearance!) and on turning you can see there's not much more to be had between tyre and arch.

I'd have to say no, not without body mods. I've got 285 on the evo and thats not a tyre you really want at the front!
