Broken Drivers Door Handle - Help please
Right yesterday I needed the car for a work trip, jumped in, all perfect as normal first thing, drove off and went to put my drivers window down and heard a big 'click' from the window at a certain point (same every time) when going down and coming back up! I was a little suprised by it, tried to put the window back up using the one-touch and it stopped 20mm from closing, pulled the switch again manually and it closed fully!?
I tried this a few times and it was clear that something was catching the runner from inside the doorcard... Basically decided to risk it and put the window down a little for the drive, pulled up at destination in car park and didn't think anymore of it, got out of the car and went to buy a ticket for the carpark, walked back to the car and couldn't get back into the car from the drivers door! It feels as though the handle is attached to nothing now so I reckon the cable has come out of the carrier on the back of the door handle which is what the window was catching on, I am now having to unlock the car and walk round the passenger side, get in, reach over and open the door from the inside and then jump in normal way! Not the look I want with a fucking expensive M3! Is this a common problem and how do I go about rectifying it, anyone got an easy solution for a change please?

Hey Dan,
Why don't you take out the doorcover to have a look yourself and then have a better judgment for what they told you and what they will tell you ? |

Can't remember the exact size but there is a screw in the side of the door which when removed allows you to remove the external door handle.
Try this, it might just need fitting correctly. |

iirc sometimes this is caused by the catch coming loose rather than broken (do some searches)

I was going to strip down the door and see what I could see today but the independent I spoke to reckoned it wasn't a 'fix on the drive job', guess the logical thing I'll have to do is see for myself first!
How do the door cards come of please guys? Thanks

Take the exterior door handle off Dan, then look inside. It takes 2 mins max |
