Steering Wheel Cleaning
I have a spare steering wheel which needs a clean. Whats the best thing to use on the alcantara rim. It's been sta in a garage for a while so is dusty and a bit grubby but is in general good condition....was thinking a damp cloth but has anyone got any other ideas...cheers.

I used soapy water and a lint free cloth just pat the wheel with the damp cloth, the same when you dry it ( dont rub ) or it will look bobbly
let it dry then de bobble the wheel and it will look like new. You can also get a de bobbler for about £9 in any good craft shop I shall post a pix of the bobbler tomorrow |

Steady Mark, I know it's past ten but you can get arrested for showing your bobbler in public.
I was told that you can also use Autoglym interior cleaner in the same way...Thanks for advice mark. |

Is this still considered to be the best way to clean the steering wheel? Soap and water?
How do you bring your wheel 'back to life'? Mine is looking a bit dull and 'flat', if you know what mean?

I did mine the other day, used Meltons Nubuck/suede cleaner .(comes in an aerosol, stick a towel over the plastic wheel surround as it foams a bit when spraying )
Sprayed it directly on to the wheel, agitated it with a soft clothes brush, so it lifted the nap of the material to get all the grime out. Then patted /wiped with a damp cloth. When it was drying/dry i lightly brushed it again with the clothes brush to help it dry quicker. Its come up like new, changed the colour to a slightly darker shade (now matches seats) and looks superb Also made it slighly less bobbly on the top part of the wheel. All in, most pleasing, as i sit and stare atit whilst sat in traffic so much. |

After the clean job just shave the bobbles off with a normal (foil) shaver

Virosol lemon cleaner works really well to clean it, but te bobbles come off best with some sandpaper
